Rochester Regional Business Plan Contest Now Open Entrepreneurs Invited to Compete
Registration deadline: March 12th, 2007
High Tech Rochester, Greater Rochester Enterprise, Rochester Institute of Technology, the University of Rochester and Finger Lakes Wired have announced that the 2007 Rochester Regional Business Plan Contest is now accepting Contestant Applications. Finger Lakes Wired Announces Second Round of Grants to 15 Companies - $408,000 Awarded to Date to Enhance Worker Skills

Finger Lakes Wired has awarded scholarships to 15 more businesses to train workers in Monroe, Livingston, Ontario, and Wayne counties. They will receive a total of $262,540 to provide training to 149 employees. This is the second round of scholarship funds Finger Lakes Wired has awarded. $145,476.51 was granted to 14 companies in December 2006. See Awards |
Researcher to Use $10 Million Grant to Revamp Cornell Labs to Advance Cellulose-to-biofuel Research
To help advance technologies that convert perennial grasses and woody biomass to ethanol, Cornell professor of biological and environmental engineering Larry Walker will use a $10 million grant from the Empire State Development Corp. to upgrade Cornell's industrial biotechnology laboratories. DOL Employment and Training Administration to Sponsor Webinar, Entrepreneurship in a WIRED World, Feb 27
As part of the Kauffman Foundation's Entrepreneurship Week USA, the U.S. Department of Labor Employment and Training Administration is sponsoring a web-based seminar February 27 at 2 p.m. that will explore entrepreneurial ecosystems and their development in the Wired regions. National experts will discuss the environmental conditions necessary to promote high growth, high value entrepreneurship at the regional economic level. Presenters will discuss current entrepreneurship efforts and how they are leading to regional economic development in the first and second generation Wired regions. Regional Organizations Celebrate Entrepreneurship Week, February 24 - March 3
Entrepreneurship Week USA is a collection of thousands of activities, from high school competitions, academic gatherings and local town halls to a national policy summit. More than 700 organizations from all 50 states have answered the call. This celebration is an acknowledgement of what has made America great. Its impact will be significant for those involved, future generations of entrepreneurs and the economies to which they contribute.
