RFP Update: Finger Lakes Wired Announces Projects Funded to Connect Business Leaders in the Region and Advance Business Solutions
Finger Lakes Wired announced that is has selected programs that will be funded to connect business leaders throughout the nine-county region to increase collaboration and help advance solutions to critical business issues. Finger Lakes Wired selected the projects based on criteria outlined in a Request for Proposal that was issued in September. >>>

UR and High Tech Rochester Announce Affiliation
In a move that will strengthen commercialization of academic research and regional economic development, the University of Rochester announced a new partnership with High Tech Rochester, a non-profit organization that promotes the creation and growth of technology companies through support services and incubation facilities and provides consulting services for manufacturers. GRE Launches Innovative Online Mapping Tool with Support from Finger Lakes Wired & National Grid
With the click of a mouse on GRE's website, www.RochesterBiz.com, business leaders may now view commercial sites and buildings available in the Rochester nine county region, as well as corresponding "dot on a map" demographic analysis reports, business analysis and dynamic mapping. Full story

First Class of RIT's Strategic Growth through Innovation Program Concludes this Month
Forty-one company leaders from 22 small and medium- sized companies will compete this 10- week program, held at RIT. It features four-hour sessions facilitated by faculty who have also grown companies. >>>

Wired Scholarships Help Company Competitiveness
Two area companies have seen how Finger Lakes Wired scholarships can bolster productivity and growth. “Wired has truly made a difference in the global competitiveness of Newtex,” says Jerry Joliet, President and CEO Newtex Industries Inc. Wired provided $35,662 in funding for training all Newtex customer service and purchasing personnel in Microsoft Excel and all modules of the company’s Enterprise Resource Planning system. >>>

Since inception in 2006, Rochester-based TEN has accepted almost 70 new members, all founders or senior executives of early stage high tech companies. >>>

Young Entrepreneurs Academy Launched at SUNY Geneseo
The Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!) made its State University of New York at Geneseo debut in October and is teaching 24 middle and high schools students from eight school districts how to start and run their own businesses. >>>

PhysioComm has been named the winner of High Tech Rochester's September 2007 Phase-Zero SBIR Award of $2,500. The Phase-Zero Program was made possible through a grant from Finger Lakes Wired. >>>

Simon School Receives $5.4 Million in Major Gifts
Five major gifts totaling $5.4 million that will help shape the future of the Simon Graduate School of Business. Those gifts will help the Simon School to enhance faculty recruiting and retention, promote entrepreneurship education and offer more scholarships based on academic merit and financial need. >>>
