Finger Lakes Wired Announces Second Round of Grants to 15 Companies - $408,000 Awarded to Date to Enhance Worker Skills

Finger Lakes Wired has awarded scholarships to 15 more businesses to train workers in Monroe, Livingston, Ontario, and Wayne counties. They will receive a total of $262,540 to provide training to 149 employees. This is the second round of scholarship funds Finger Lakes Wired has awarded. $145,476.51 was granted to 14 companies in December 2006.

Researcher to use $10 million grant to revamp Cornell labs to advance cellulose-to-biofuel research
To help advance technologies that convert perennial grasses and woody biomass to ethanol, Cornell professor of biological and environmental engineering Larry Walker will use a $10 million grant from the Empire State Development Corp. to upgrade Cornell's industrial biotechnology laboratories.
