Three Regional Leaders Share Experiences Related to Wired at National Workforce Devlopment Conference in Kansas City
Three regional leaders, Paul Wetenhall, President of High Technology Rochester, Duncan Moore, Vice Provost for Entrepreneurship at the University of Rochester Simon School of Business and Matt Hurlbutt, Managing Director of Finger Lakes Wired, were invited to present at Workforce Innovations 2007: Beyond Boundaries, the national workforce development conference,held in Kansas City, Missouri July 17-19.
They shared regional strategies and successes achieved through the WIRED initiative.
More than 3,500 professionals from federal, state and local organizations involved in education, economic and workforce development attended the conference, which was aimed at taking participants "Beyond Boundaries" by providing the skills, tools, knowledge and strategies to keep you at the forefront of America's competitive workforce system.
Wetenhall presented
WIRED MEP Technology Transfer and Transition Pilots highlighting finger Lakes Wired partnership experiences and multiple approaches for identifying sources of technology and tools available to support the innovation agendas of the WIRED regions.
Duncan Moore presented on The Role of the Entrepreneurship “Continuum” in Regional Economic Development, talking about
how entrepreneurs help regional economies ride the wave of innovation to continued success and prosperity.
Hurlbutt
presented two sessions, WIRED in Action: An “After-Action” Report on Lessons Learned During the First Year of Implementation
about the
challenges and opportunities they encountered, and the successes the created, during the first year of implementing WIRED, and Industries, Competencies, and Competitiveness: Industry Cluster Strategies in the Finger Lakes and Piedmont Triad Regions on how to capture the assets, economic and workforce models, and the "story of transformation.
