National Advisory Panel Discusses Key Strategies with Wired Board at Recent Meeting

The Finger Lakes Wired Governing Board was pleased to invite the National Advisory Panel to its July 25th Board meeting to continue the discussion of successful regional economic development strategies.

The Panel actively participated in a discussion of strategies with the Board and made recommendations, many of which are being considered for action. They also praised leaders for their efforts and the progress made under the initiative to date.

The discussion was facilitated by Mary MacPherson of New Economy Strategies.  Randall Kempner, Vice President of Regional Innovation from the US Council on Competitiveness, also participated. 

Members of the National Advisory Panel are:

  • Mark Crowell, Associate Vice Chancellor for Economic Development and Technology Transfer at the University of North Carolina
  • Richard Bendis, President and CEO, True Product ID, Inc.
  • Maryann Feldman, Miller Distinguished Professor, Institute of Higher Education , University of Georgia
  • Jeff Erramouspe, formerly Practice Director for Entrepreneurship, TIP Strategies, Inc.

The National Advisory Panel’s experience has served as a valuable resource to Finger Lakes Wired.

This was the Panel's second visit to the region to meet with the Board. They expressed how impressed they were with the area's many assets referencing the recent US AIRWAYS magazine feature on the region.
